People are finding out the difference between scented oil products and perfumes and colognes these days and some are changing the products that they have traditionally used.Fragrances are useful for use on the body and in the home or house. Synthetic oils do not have any medicinal value whereas natural oils may often be used to treat a variety of illnesses and diseases.Perfumes are produced by adding solvents, alcohol or both to the oil base. The French were the first to take the oils and turn them into perfumes. The making of perfumes has turned into a science which has proven to be very profitable. Perfumers are paid good money to design fragrances which are based on criteria specified to them by the person or company who wants the fragrance created. Colognes and perfumes may be composed of many hundreds of ingredients blended in a harmony to achieve a desired effect on the person who smells the fragrance.

A Parfum is a scented product which contains 30% of the oil base. The other 70% may be composed of solvents or alcohol which is designed to enhance the scent of the parfum. This product is the most potent of all of the man made fragrance products that you can buy except for the oil. It normally lasts about five to seven hours before it loses its fragrance.Eau de Parfum is a little less potent than parfum and much less potent than the scented product base.
